CHAPTER 3

Emma

Emma pulled back from the kiss, her heart pounding. She searched Samantha's deep blue eyes, needing to see the truth of her love reflected there. In the softness of Samantha's gaze, Emma found the reassurance she craved.

"I love you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. She meant those words with every fiber of her being. How could she have let things get so off track? Work had consumed her, and she realized now that she'd been taking her frustrations out on the person closest to her heart.

Wrapping her arms around Samantha, Emma held her tightly, breathing in the familiar scent of her hair. She felt Samantha's response, the way her body relaxed into the embrace, and knew that, for now, all was forgiven. But it wasn't enough just to say the words. She had to show Samantha how much she loved her, that she was willing to make changes to protect what they shared.

"I'm sorry," she murmured into Samantha's hair. "I've been so caught up in work and..." She trailed off, the weight of her responsibilities pressing down on her. Her new boss's demands were relentless, and she'd let the stress consume her. But she refused to let it ruin what she had with Samantha.

Emma tightened her embrace, her heart aching at the thought of losing the woman in her arms. "I promise to do better. You and I... we're a team, and I'm going to start acting like it." She spoke with determination, willing herself to believe that she could find a balance. Samantha deserved nothing less.

Pulling back slightly, Emma traced the line of Samantha's jaw with her thumb, her gaze flicking to the small tattoo on her wrist—a crescent moon, a constant reminder of the light Samantha brought into her life. "I'm going to make more time for us. For you. For fun. For all the little things I've been too blind to see."

Samantha's eyes shone with unshed tears, and Emma's heart twisted. She hated that she'd been the cause of pain for this incredible woman. "I love you," she said again, needing to say the words once more. "You're everything to me, Samantha. Please believe that."

Leaning in, she pressed her lips to Samantha's gently, pouring all the love and promise of her words into the kiss.

Emma Hayes had always been driven by her ambitious nature, but in that moment, as she felt Samantha's response to her kiss, all thoughts of work and stress melted away. She realized what truly mattered: the woman in her arms.

Guided by a sudden urgency, Emma led Samantha back to the bed. She wanted to reconnect with Samantha, to remind her just how much she desired her. Lowering her onto the bed, Emma savored the way Samantha's eyes sparkled with of desire and love.

With gentle hands, Emma removed Samantha's shirt, exposing her delicate skin. Leaning down, she captured one of Samantha's nipples between her lips, swirling her tongue and sucking gently. Samantha arched her back, moaning softly as pleasure washed over her.
